🏆 M365 Challenge Mode
Test your Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Power Platform knowledge with this gamified developer quiz. Review detailed explanations after you finish!
M365 Developer Challenge
Can you score 10/10? Test your knowledge across SharePoint Framework (SPFx), Power Automate, Microsoft Graph, and general M365 Development.
How a round works
Each round draws 10 questions at random from a bank of 25, so two attempts rarely look the same. Every question is multiple choice with four options and exactly one correct answer; you cannot skip, and the answer locks when you press Next. At the end you get a score, a rank, and a review screen that shows every question with the option you picked, the correct option, and a short explanation of why — that review is the point of the tool, not the score.
Ranks are fixed thresholds on the 10-question score: 10/10 is M365 Architect, 8–9 is Senior Developer, 6–7 is Intermediate Dev, 4–5 is Junior Developer, and anything below is M365 Novice. Nothing is stored and nothing is sent anywhere; the quiz runs entirely in your browser.
What the question bank covers
The bank is weighted towards the decisions and gotchas that come up in real M365 project work rather than trivia. By difficulty it is 3 beginner, 13 intermediate and 9 advanced. The questions themselves are listed below by area so you can see what you are signing up for; the answers and explanations only appear in the tool.
SharePoint (8)
List and library behaviour, permissions, the list view threshold, versioning and the REST/CSOM surface — the things that break in a tenant long before any code is written.
- What is the maximum file size limit for a single file uploaded to SharePoint Online (as of 2024/2025)? (Beginner)
- When formatting a SharePoint list column using JSON, which property is used to dynamically reference the value of the current field? (Intermediate)
- What does the CAML `<In>` operator do when querying a SharePoint list? (Advanced)
- A list has 20,000 items. A CAML query filtering on an unindexed column matches only 3 items. What happens? (Intermediate)
- A column is created as "Due Date" and later renamed to "Deadline". What is its internal name afterwards? (Beginner)
- In CAML, how many child elements can an <And> element contain? (Advanced)
- Where do <ViewFields> and <RowLimit> belong in a CAML view definition? (Intermediate)
- What is "Limited Access" in SharePoint permissions? (Intermediate)
SPFx (5)
The SharePoint Framework toolchain, web part and extension lifecycle, bundling, and the Heft/Webpack migration that replaced the Gulp build in SPFx 1.23.
- Which toolchain is primarily used to build SharePoint Framework (SPFx) client-side web parts? (Intermediate)
- In an SPFx web part, what is the purpose of the `render` method in the main `BaseClientSideWebPart` class? (Advanced)
- A deployed SPFx web part renders nothing on existing pages after you renamed it and changed its component id. Why? (Advanced)
- Which client should an SPFx web part use to call Microsoft Graph so that token acquisition is handled for you? (Intermediate)
- Under output-constrained builds, why can a `use client` page not export generateStaticParams? (Advanced)
Power Platform (6)
Power Automate expressions and run behaviour, Power Apps delegation, connectors and the limits that only show up at runtime.
- When building a Power Automate flow, what terminates a "Do until" loop? (Beginner)
- In Power Apps, which function is used to securely patch an existing record while avoiding delegation warnings on large datasets? (Intermediate)
- A Power Automate flow works for its author but fails for colleagues. What is the most likely cause? (Advanced)
- Which expression safely reads a property that may be absent from the trigger body? (Intermediate)
- convertFromUtc() expects which kind of time zone identifier? (Advanced)
- A Get items action returns only 100 rows from a list with 4,000 items, and the flow reports success. Why? (Intermediate)
M365 Development (6)
Microsoft Graph permissions and throttling, Entra ID app registrations, Teams app manifests and the cross-service plumbing every M365 solution ends up needing.
- When registering an Entra ID (Azure AD) application to consume Microsoft Graph headless (e.g., via a daemon process), which authentication flow should you use? (Advanced)
- Which Microsoft Graph API permissions type requires user consent (or admin consent on behalf of a user) before an app can act as the signed-in user? (Intermediate)
- What is PnP PowerShell? (Intermediate)
- How many individual requests can a single Microsoft Graph $batch call contain? (Intermediate)
- Which Graph permission grants access to specific SharePoint sites rather than every site in the tenant? (Advanced)
- A Graph call returns 429 with a Retry-After header. What is the correct response? (Intermediate)
Using it for certification prep
The bank is not a practice exam and does not mirror any Microsoft exam blueprint, but the SPFx, Graph and Power Platform questions sit squarely in the skills measured by MS-600 (Building Applications and Solutions with Microsoft 365 Core Services) and PL-400 (Power Platform Developer). Use it the way you would a flash-card deck: take a round, read every explanation on the review screen including the ones you got right, and follow the topic into the longer write-ups on the blog — the Power Automate expressions cheat sheet, the Graph authentication guide and the SPFx Heft migration guide cover the three areas people most often miss. When you hit an error code in the wild, the Error Decoder explains it.
Frequently Asked Questions
The question bank features intermediate to advanced topics across: SharePoint Framework (SPFx), Power Automate expressions and connectors, Microsoft Graph API permissions, SharePoint administration, Teams development, and general M365 architecture decisions.
Yes. Every question is based on common architectural decisions, API quirks, and development scenarios you encounter in real M365 projects — from debugging SPFx builds to choosing the right Graph permission scope.
Absolutely! At the end of the challenge, you get a full review screen with: the correct answer highlighted, a detailed explanation of why it's correct, and why the other options are wrong. This makes it a genuine learning tool.
The current question bank contains 25+ questions across multiple difficulty levels. Each session presents a randomized selection so you get a different experience each time you play.
While not a direct certification practice test, the questions cover topics that overlap with MS-600 (M365 Developer), PL-400 (Power Platform Developer), and MS-700 (Teams Administrator) exam objectives.
Yes! After completing the challenge, you can share your score and badge on social media. It's a fun way to benchmark your M365 knowledge against peers and showcase your expertise.
